-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7:29p - Hectic Tuesday Tomorrow is going to be a boring ass day at the office. I have next to nothing to do. I'll try to get that prep work done so I CAN get two dives in. I don't know why I said that last night. I should know by now that that kind of talk jinxes me. Today was most CERTAINLY NOT a boring ass day at the office. It wasn't *bad* really. In fact it was sort of refreshing to be honest... It started with PT when the rainy season decided it was about time we got wet while ruck marching. That was good. I enjoyed getting wet actually...and I got a kickass workout due to my high spirits, despite getting little sleep due to planning some vacation time in (other) foreign countries and not wanting to get up at ALL. Then it was an excellent breakfast, rushed to get to work on time as it made me...and...a boring ass day at the office...for all of about half an hour or so I'd guess. Rapidly growing fidgetedy, I go through all sorts of old paperwork and regulations, tossing most of it out and reorganizing the rest. Just as my desk begins to look like a typhoon hit... BAM! The Ops NCO comes to tell em about some sworn statements I was going to need to do at 1530...there went leaving early to dive. He leaves, and then, BAM! One of the S3 warrant officers comes in to ask me a question of operational law so I start digging through the regulations I just found on the subject. An NCO from A Co comes in. BAM! Need some help with this paperowk you just sent down to us. He gives me a phone number but suggests I come down to the team room to do it in person... I get back to the office finally and realize I still have to finish an action from the prior evening. I finally get a reply to an email to the MPs about a POC ("Point of Contact"...NOT "piece of crap") roster...and then POW! the server goes down and I'm without email...even if I HAD the time to respond... I go donwstairs to check on an action I needed the battalion commander to sign but the POC ("Point of Contact"...NOT "piece of crap") is busy so I come back upstairs with some paperwork left in the S-1 shop...turns out it wasn't for them so i bring it back down. By this time I have a chance to talk to the Battalion Adjutant and the thign I needed signed wasn't ready. I come back up to my office and do some more research...call the warrant only to discover he already got the prelimary info I had to give him and had more questions for me... Back into the pile of papers and CDroms I go only to learn the info I need is classified so I have to dig into the safe...only to discover the info in the safe is the OUTDATED info... so I go to the message center and try to log into the secure server to look it up on the intranet...and my account, which I've been having trouble getting into lately, still won't let me in... So I call the warrant back and tell him I found what he needed, but i didn't have the updated version and there could be changes... He says no problem, just get me the updated version... I call the ADP and ask them to look into my account troubles... And of course there's all the usual traffic tickets crap and distrobution of paperwork runs too... somewhere in all this mess I actually have time for lunch and a nap A hectic day...but a good sort of hectic. I learned a TON of actual real world operational law because of that research... and I wasn't bored...not at ALL. Work is so *tedious* when I'm just sitting there waiting for something to do...I can never get motivated to do things unless I'm already busy. I enjoy my day so much more when I have worthwhile things to get done...and I did too. I got SO MUCH done today. Add to that, sometime in the morning I went to ask the team about the dployment brief i was supposed to give tomorrow...and they told me it was scrapped...which was great because it freed up my entire evening! I never got to dive because of all this work, and because, frankly, the weather has just SUCKED today as far as that venture goes. Yet it's OK. I'm still in HUGE spirits. I went grocery shopping instead. Something I didn't *desparetly* need to do...not for a couple more days...but it's better to have everything than to scrounge! and i got more ben and jerry's too. Yum! current mood: ecstatic
