Today...

We cleaned weapons today. Haven't even held mine, let alone fired it, since september, so as you can imagine there wasn't much to be done. As I was standing in line at the arms room, someone made some quip about it being monday. I thought the man was off his rocker, as it was definitely NOT monday--it was Tuesday. I said something like that, I think. Luckily no-one heard, or bothered to say anything at least...

The thing is...it wasn't even just one of those things where you think it's the next day...it WAS Tuesday damnit. reallty. it was tuesday this morning.

It never even dawned on me that it was monday until this afternoon...because this weekend...

wait...what weekend? I quite literally didn't have a weekend. I spent from 0900 to 2030 driving back and forth to Naha and waiting at the airport there...with only a couple half hours breaks...I was just wasted. When I got off duty at 0600 sunday I came home and just collapsed into bed. I didn't even bother to shower. Got out of bed at 1600.

So my "weekend" consisted of about 7 hours...the same 7 hours I normally have to myself after work every day.

sigh.

I got to go diving today after work at least. It wasn't a very good dive though. My damn dive buddy forgot his fins so I had to sit there and wait about 45 minutes while he went home to get them. Then we got in the water and as I knew he would insist, I had to do the navigating. Because I'd been so anxious while waiting (not to mention pissed off) and I was so intent on the compass headings (especially after I realized I fucked up and had to get us back on track...not to mention having to shake off a sea snake that got a little too close for comfort which fucked my bearings just that much more) I was kicking like a race horse. Visibility was about 20 feet at best. Then, since I'd messed up my compass bearings (despite how much I was able to correct myself), we surfaced too far from shore and had a fricking long ass swim back in. The entire time on scuba was only about 35 minutes.

*sigh*

At least it was time underwater. The worst half hour diving is better than the best day at work I suppose.

Tomorrow the two of us are planning to knock off work early again and do another dive. He wants to do two dives but I hafta prepare for a deployment briefing I'm giving a team wednesday...i only have time to do one dive.

I had to console myself with some ben and jerry's. It helped a little. I even had enough restraint to only eat half of it...so I have some for tomorrow as well.

Tomorrow is going to be a boring ass day at the office. I have next to nothing to do. I'll try to get that prep work done so I CAN get two dives in. I sure could use some more time down there.
