-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 8:14p - Causes for celebration and more gear listings So I'm assuming this means Ford got my last car payment? I mean...OK, so I paid it off a couple years ahead of schedule and caused them to lose all that money they were raping off me in "interest" (more like my lifeblood it was) Is that any cause to be so rude? Jeesh! So (I think?) that's a cause for celebration? Even if it is just a foul up (and boowho! it takes another whole day to process) It doesn't stop there though! :) I got not one, but TWO nice little surprises in the mail today. The first was a little something something I worked my magic on for a friend...the second was a little something something I worked my magic on for myself :) So yeah...I'm reliving Jill Soboule's set at this very moment because of my magic (my man is about 8 months late but well...shit happens--i wasn't sweating cuz I DID, after all, get PJ's set long long LONG ago...). Anyway (ramble ramble) it's a bloody shame I have a PT test tomorrow cuz what I want to do is stay up and listen to the whole thing straight through... ahhhh shit. knowing me I might do that anyways. what do i really have to prove on the PT test anyway? like I need a high score for promotion points? I stayed home all day today reading The Pacific Crest Trail: A Hiker's Companion because we are all getting new carpet (oh yay. i am just SO excited. :P ) and today was my day. I had to stay home and help move my shit around. The California PCT Guide Books are out of stock until late july or something. That's driving me sort of wiggy as I can't plan my water stops. My resupply points are going to be dependent on where I can get water--I would LIKE to go at least five to six days (ten days ideally) before resupplying whenever possible...In SoCal, though...I'll be carrying 20 to 25 pounds of water as a one to two day supply because water is scarce and it's so hot...won't allow me to carry too much food... Everytime I look at gear I change my mind about something. (about the only thing that hasn't changed is the sleeping bag). I keep going to websites and doing faux orders of all the stuff I need. Right now I'm looking at a modest $750 for the base gear of: tent, pack, sleeping bag, therma rest, headlamp, ice pick, and a few miscellanious odds and ends such as socks, pack towels, water purification methods, etc. As of the current standings, here's my projected gear list:
At least as of right now, Backcountry Gear has all of the above and
at the best prices. I'm hoping new models will come out for 2003 and prices
will drop even further though.
And I plan to compile my own "kits"
*First Aid and Emergency Kit*
*Sanitation Kit*
And then...luxury items: AM/FM radio or am/fm/cassette (no idea yet)
current mood: giddy
