12:50p - Bright Lights
I just found the cheapest price on a MS Specter by about $30, in stock, and even better, I'll be getting a 10% discount coupon from the company shortly. They have other gear I need too so it's double plus good ;)

I just ordered another 3 cases of MREs. Combined with the two cases of civilian issue MREs, 30 extra entrees, and one case of RCWs I already have or have otw, I've got most of those type food supplies knocked out. I'm shipping all the foodstuffs to my parents place now so that saves HUGE on shipping. (can't ship UPS to here...and USPS is about twice as much)

Will need to hit Costco back in the states and stock up on poptarts and granola and such...I figure i'll take about a week to get all my resupply boxes put together and labeled with "please ship on *day**month* or Glen might starve!", then hit the trail...should put me at the southern terminal about 10 May.

The USD has been taking a nose-dive vs. the yen lately; I'm making an extra $150/month due to COLA (Cost of overseas living allowance)...which, since i do all my shopping on post and the prices are constant on post, is another $150 bucks for bills or gear or beer... yay!

I *finally* knocked out the brief with my Executive Officer friday too. Now all I hafta do is a bit more research and get on the schedule to brief the commander.

I've got NEW tori!

I have another about another 10 hours to sit around on my ass in my bathrobe and pjs and just be a lazy beer drinking, diet pepsi (it was cheaper than coke) guzzling, bum this weekend...

All in all, I find myself quite the happy little camper...

And this...

"a sorta fairytale
with you
things you said that day
up on the 101
the girl had come undone
I tried to downplay it
with a bet about us
You said that-
You'd take it
as long as I could
I could not erase it
And I'm so sad
like a good book
I can't put this
Day Back
a sorta fairytale
with you"

so conjures up images of my past life that it hits me right where it hurts the most...in the heart.

current mood: all kinds of mixed around good

2:36p - Bored ruminitions
Here's a scary thought for you...

I was at the liquor store yesterday because I was surprisely enough, almost 100% dry. I must be drinking like a fish lately cuz I haven't needed a lick-her-sto-run in ages...

And as I was perusing the whiskey isle, it was thoughts of LJ that danced through my head...people like crescent_fresh and greeneyed_devil. It was a toss between Dewers (yup, seems that kadena has it, i just had to notice it) Jack, and Jim. As I was feeling poor, I went with the Jim. Chalk one up for chuck.

And then came the beer...feeling particulary uninspired since they didn't have Henry Weinhards (which I have come to unfortunetly expect around here) I settled on a pack of "the silver bullet will never let you down"...because I was still feeling poor Not as bad as PBR or the beast...but close.

and then I went and paid for it with a credit card.

There is something inherently alcoholism-istic about buying booze with a credit card...and come to think of it, I've used my cc for it ever since college.

Is there a connection? You can judge for yourself, but this college dropout turned joe soon be civilian again (hooray) thinks so.

and because I am still hideously bored...here are the ideas for a tatto I've had for years now...either a red beret on my left delt, my wings (uncolored) on my left pect, or the isle of Oki (uncolored) on my left calf. I can't even decided if I want a tatoo at all...but those are the candidates. I'm not so keen on the airborne stuff cuz I've never had a combat jump and i'd feel like a poser, but the Oki one sounds good...but i don't know if i need that as a souvenoir of my time here.

sigh. but it's good to be bored for a change.
