9:40p - Let me buy your camera for you. Trust me.
I've been thinking about getting a digital camera as of late. Mostly to alleviate film worries on my hike. Until just recently I hadn't done any real research into it though...it was too difficult knowing that I used to have a very notable friend who sold cameras for a living...

Anyway, friday night I did a bit of actual research and found some stuff on the Olympus D-550 Zoom

and the Fuji Fine Pix S602 Zoom

Well...the fuji was a bit more camera than I needed...said camera friend would probably love it mmmk?....I'm nowhere near that level of photography.

Saturday I went to the Post Exchange on Kadena Air Base...they had a clearance sale on ONE olympus 550...it had been returned and was missing the software. So it was on sale for $246...I'll get the software from the website for free (or by snail mail from olympus if push comes to shove...)

and then the sales clerk gave me *another* 25% off...I think I may have conned her into that but I'm not sure...sure as hell wasn't going to argue in any case. So I got a $400 camera for $180. Our taxpayer dollars went to good use in securely me such a deal. (all military exchanges are run by the gov't, hence, tax dollars)

the last camera I got (the analog one I still use now) was about $150...i got that one for $70 through similiar circumstances.

So...if you ever need a camera...let me know. i can hook you up.

In unrelated news, saturday's power outtage hardly had me batting an eyelash. I slept late sat morn...got up, went on a three hour training hike (12 miles, 60 pounds...having ended my two month niccotine relapse and my recent training regime re discovered....I was SOOOOO happy with the ease of this hike) and spent the rest of the day out and about...then D and I went out in the evening.

Today I went diving. Oh fuck me god did I need to be in the water. thank you thank you thank you. Nothing hurts when I'm underwater. No regrets, no misgivings, no day dreams, nothing...just the calming arms of the ocean surrounding me. Mike and I did two dives at Maeda Point. First dive down to 117 feet...Wonderful Wonderful beauty...fish, eels, snakes...Second dive to 67 marked by a gorgeous cuddle fish (a type of squid). Giving up cigarettes also has had the effect of lowering my air consumption...meaning I can stay down longer.

< smirk > I GO DOWN LONG TIME! < /smirk >

picked up my advanced NAUI certification card today...i actually had a multiple choice test to take that I kept forgetting to do, but i took it and passed today. So that was nice.

fuck. I was thinking this entry would come out so much better. instead. it's crap. sorry 'bout that! lol.

Dear god, I am suffering camera envy! I love love love what I have now (hp photomart 612) for the most part, though. (:

What kind of analog camera do you have? My SLR is a Minolta SRT-200 with original stock flash... it's fab, but needs work. Not bad for someting I found at a junky antique shop for $5.
