day -- seen in w/ a double watch -- fire guard, then because no-one knew
who relief was for suicide watch was, I volunteered for it -- one hour
of watching a Section 11 sleep to make sure he lived through the night
-- lot of time for thinking -- last few weeks an amazing sense of self
has arisen -- and of the self in others--particually w/ age -- but
all the stories of my platoon family -- Francis the Wicca, Mike the New
York 1/2 sicilian 1/2 german, Shultz big black "cuddly bear", Chris Jones
25 year old reenlistee here to support his family, Mendoza 5'0" Puerto
Rican - the only one of about 25 who spoke enuff English to not take the
ESL test -- the two female recruits, also both Puerto Rican, Navarro the
guy under my bunk...etc. etc.
But it's just a huge "two ton heavy thing" (Queensryche)...everything
that happens outside me, within me, around me immediately and not immediately...I
can't put it into words, but I suppose I need not -- everyone feels this
eventually, I'm sure...
Someone said something derogatory about Corporal Abisaab
and someone else ratted...the whole platoon got smoked and chewed out hard...
Later though, he cooled down and all was OK in OK. Sergeant
Clark, 1st Platoon Drill Sergeant marched & manuevered our asses for
about an hour...that was motherfuckin fun shit, even if the formation fucked
up and out of ranks all over the place (and I admit, I was a bit
out on occasion myself -- a lot out one or twice...)
Word is now I'm shipping for BCT Oct 23rd...took the 13
pushup (full military style mind you) test -- passed No Problem...should
be picking up glasses either that day or ealier, probably earlier. Tuesday
sees one more shot (Some of the prior Service trying to scare us saying
it's in the Penis) a bit more papaers (Hopefully my direct deposit slip...)
then a few more days in 1st Platoon...after which AA, AB, AC (Alpha Alpha,
Alpha Bravo, Alpha Charlie --military alphabet) move into FTB (Fitness
Training Battery) and kick into PT 3-4 times a day...can you say "Get in
shape now"?
Been practicing a lot more spanish lately w/ the Puerto
Ricans...maybe be a bit less rusty once BCT is over...
