Neon Genesis Evangelion is a TV series of 26 episodes made by Gainax, available both sub and dub on video by A.D. Vision. Two movies where also made: "Evangelion: Death/Evangelion: Rebirth" and "The end of Evangelion" (numerous reeditions of those movies have been made as well).

Quite frankly, Evangelion is one of the best anime series I've seen (along with Rurouni Kenshin). Eva is not your usual Mecha anime. It's unique. Right from the start, you can feel it's more darker then most other anime. Eva characters are less then perfect. Each of them most fight great inner battles. There are moments where you can fill all the emotions and the pain. Eva is also a huge puzzle. It's a series filled with mysteries up until the end. Not to mention that the artwork is just amazing. And the philosophical aspect of the anime is just appealing. Neon Genesis Evangelion is simply one of the best anime ever made.
