Treasures

                                   There are treasures in life,
                                   but owners are few
                                   Of money and power
                                   to buy things brand new.

                                   Yet you can be wealthy
                                   and feel regal too,
                                   If you will just look
                                   for the treasures in you.

                                   These treasures in life
                                   are not hard to find
When you look in your heart,
                                   your soul, and your mind.

                                   For when you are willing
                                   to share what's within,
                                   Your fervent search
                                   for riches will end.

                                   The joy and the laughter,
                                   the smile that you bring;
                                   The heart unafraid
                                   to love and to sing.

                                   The hand always willing
                                   to help those in need;
                                   Ones quick to reach out,
                                   to labor and feed.

                                   So thank you for sharing
                                   these great gifts inside;
                                   The caring, the cheering,
                                   the hug when one cried.

                                   Thanks for the energy,
                                   encouragement too,
                                   And thank you for sharing
                                   the treasures in you.

True Happiness

                                   True happiness may be sought,
                                   caught, or thought,
                                   But never bought.

Happiness is the result of being
                                   too busy to be unhappy.

                                   No one can define happiness.
You have to be unhappy to
                                   understand it.

Genuine happiness is when a wife
sees a double chin on her husband's
                                   old girlfriend.

                                   Happiness does not come from
                                   what you have.
                                   But what you are.

Happiness is where you find it
and seldom where you seek it.

                                   Happiness is home brewed.

                                   The surest path to happiness
is in losing yourself in a cause
                                   greater than yourself.

The place to be happy is here,
the time to be happy is now,
the way to be happy is to
                                   make others so.

Jesus On the 4th of July

                                   We gather ‘round to celebrate
                                   On Independence Day
                                   Pay homage to our country
As the children run and play.

                                   With barbeques and picnics
                                   And fireworks in the air
The flag we own is proudly flown
To show how much we care.

The stars and stripes spell freedom
                                   She waves upon the breeze
While bursts of colors can be seen
                                   Above the towering trees.

                                   This is all quite wonderful
                                   We revel in delight
But God above in divine love
Has brought this day to light.

With just a stroke of liberty
A touch of His great hand
                                   He gave democracy to us
                                   And helped this country stand.

The stripes upon our stately flag
Were touched by His sweet grace
Each star of white that shines so bright
                                   Reflects His loving face.

So as you turn to face the flag
                                   For battles that were fought
Be filled with pride for those who died
                                   And freedoms that were bought.

But don’t forget to thank the One
                                   That gives the bright display
The reason why we paint the sky
                                   On Independence Day

An Angel Has Spoken

                                         An Angel has spoken
                                         Her words did I hear
                                         Be not afraid my child
                                         I am always so near.

                                         I lighten your path
                                         I hold you within
                                         You are not alone
                                         The veil is so thin.

                                         I hear you in silence
                                         Your fears do I sense
                                         Darkness is ending
                                         Light shall commence.

                                         Your pains do I share
                                         My heart reaches for you
                                         I weep when you suffer
                                         My love is so true.

As a child you called to me
                                         You needed me there
                                         My wings to protect you
                                         To guide you with care.

                                         With age...you forgot me
                                         You looked another way
But I am still with you
How I long for the day.

                                         As days turn to months
                                         And months turn to years
                                         You find yourself seeking
                                         The Angels in tears.

                                         I fly to you swiftly
                                         With wings soaring high
                                         To embrace your sweet spirit
                                         Behold...it is I.

                                         I walk with you always
                                         Never shall I stray
                                         I am your Angel
I will show you the way.
