If you have the money I would try to get a computer radio. The electronic features found on a computer radio make setting up the controls on your airplane so much easier.

A four channel, with no model memory will last you a year, a four channel with two model memory may last your two years before you find you do not have enough "model memory" and your buy a computer radio or another basic radio set.

Good newbie info on radios at http://www.easyrc.com/radiosystems/index.html

I favour JR, if I had the cash, I would by the JR 652 or any other 6 channel with minimum four model memory.

My order of preference is JR, Futaba, Hitec, Airtronics

You can mix and match servoes from different manufacturers, some receivers you can but not all, check first!
