MEMORIES I still think of her every morning when I wake A smile on this old face, the memory does make I drive off down the street And I think of "My Best Friend" Of her tender kisses and gentle hugs Of the night we made love on the living room rug I feel the touch of her fingertips run down my spine I hear her voice whisper, "Hi honey of mine" A tear appears in the corner of my eye Because I realize, if I were to die At this point in time, that I've left so many things unsaid Like to tell her of the times When I hear her call my name Feel her touch, her grace Only to turn and see no one there Only an empty glass and lonely chair Tell her that I still have that empty bottle of wine From the night she first honored this ol' house of mine How I look at it and can recall The taste of it on her lips As we lay together like a couple of teenaged kids Wanting her to stay with me so desperately Only to kiss her goodnight and watch as she leaves How everyday after has been a treasure Another memory that I'll forever remember The night of her "first" country bar concert How she pulled me to the stage How we danced together in the crowd And how I felt so close to her The night at the revolving bar The Jack and Coke and the knit shirt she wore How even in a room of hundreds There was only she and I And the wonderous look in her eye So what I'm trying to say to you my love Is that, no matter near or apart I remember you both in my mind And my heart Darrin L.
