What' s happening at the moment?
July 2006:
On my second day in Turkey I got an invitation to the hotel PKK. I was not allowed to reject. After this the Turkish security forces of course had to invite me, too. My bicycle even had to spend a night in a prison cell. Then I headed straight towards Europe. No more arecheological sites. I crossed Bulgaria, Serbia, Croatia and Hungary. The last days Franz joined me again, we had been cycling together in 2001, and after a couple of days in Vienna I reached finally home.

In northern Namibia I feel now really like in Africa. Many himba people still dress traditionally, which means they do not dress much. But this atrackts a lot of tourist, so I had often some children running behind me, begging for sweets and anything else.
The rough dirt roads are giving the bicycle a tough time.

June 2005:
Rushed down from Teresina to Sao Paulo, nearly 3000 km in 25 days. From terrible hot Piaui state to the cool and wet mountain ranges at the tropic of the capricorn. Touched the borders of Brazil's 4 biggest cities (Salvador, Belo Horizonte and Rio de Janeiro) without entering anyone. To escape the horror of Brazil's main transit routes I descended to the coast, dipped into the Atlantic before leaving South America from Sao Paulo airport for Cape Town in South AFRICA.
