| BITS n PIECES: | Stefan moved to England with his parents and studied guitar at the Musicians Institute in the East End. He actually started out playing drums for his school orchestra¡ but .. took up bass instead to be "noticed" rather than "un-noticed". Although he and Brian attended the same private schoolin Luxembourg, they were in totally different social circles, as Stefan was a "jock". He and Brian met by chance 4½ years later outside South Kensington tube station in London. After having met and seeing Brian play and sing the two decided to form a band together .. initially calling themselves Ashtray Heart [after a Captain Beefheart song]. In need of a drummer, it was Stefan who introduced Brian to Robert Schultzberg [a fellow Swede whom he had played in a school band with], and with the inclusion of Schultzberg, the trio went on to form PLACEBO. This guy's standing rather tall at 6"4¡ and he has a strong dislike for interviews¡ |
