BACK .. WHATS NEW¿ .. BACK

ALBUM: Sleeping With Ghosts
QUOTE: "The album title's about carrying the ghosts of your relationships with you," Brian explains, "to the point where sometimes a smell or a situation or an item of clothing they bought brings a person back. For me it's about the relationship that you have with your memories. They inhabit your dreams sometimes. There can be a lot in the future that's gonna remind you of the ghost of relationships past. So I see the album as a collection of short stories about a handful of relationships. Most of them mine. In a way writing the songs helps me to get a lot of the nasty feelings off my chest and put them in a box, and therefore have a bit more of an objective discourse with those emotions because you've done something positive with them, you've rid yourself of them." ENGLISH SUMMER RAIN
vplacebov

Always stays the same
Nothing ever changes
English summer rain
Seems to last for ages

I'm in the basement
You're in the sky
I'm in the basement baby
Drop on by

Hold your breath and count to ten
Then fall apart and start again
Start again

THIS PICTURE
vplacebov

I hold an image of the ashtray girl
Of cigarette burns on my chest
I wrote a poem that described her world
And put our friendship to the test
And late at night whilst on all fours
She used to watch me kiss the floor
What's wrong with the picture?

Farewell the ashtray girl
Forbidden snowflake
Beware this troubled world
Watch out for earthquakes
Goodbye to open sores
To broken semaphore
You know we miss her
We miss her picture

Sometimes it's fated
[We] disintegrate it
For fear of growing old
Sometimes it's fated
[We] assassinate it
For the fear of growing old

Farewell the ashtray girl
Angelic fruitcake
Beware this troubled world
Control your intake
Goodbye to open sores
Goodbye and furthermore
We know we miss her
We miss her picture

Sometimes it's fated
[We] disintegrate it
For fear of growing old
Sometimes it's fated
[We] assassinate it
For the fear of growing old

Hang on
Though we try
It's gone

I can't stop growing old

SLEEPING WITH GHOSTS
vplacebov

The sea's evaporating
Though it comes as no suprise
These clouds we're seeing
They're explosions in the sky
It seems it's written
But we can't read between the lines
Hush, it's ok
Dry your eye

Dry your eye
Soulmate dry your eye
'cause soulmates never die

This one world vision
Turns us into compromise
What good's religion
When it's each other we despise?
Damn the government
Damn their killing
Damn their lies
Hush, it's ok
Dry your eyes

Soulmate dry your eyes
'cause soulmates never die

THE BITTER END
vplacebov

Since we're feeling so anaesthetized
In our comfort zone
Reminds me of the second time
That I followed you home
We're running out of alibi's
On the second of May
Reminds me of the summertime
On this winters day

See you at the bitter end

Every step we take that's synchronized
Every broken bone
Reminds me of the second time
That I followed you home
You shower me with lullabies
As you're walking away
Reminds me that it's killing time
On this fateful day

See you at the bitter end
From the time we intercepted
Feels more like suicide ..
You showered me with lullabies ..
We're running out of alibies ..

SOMETHING ROTTEN
vplacebov

It seems we're here
I miss you something rotten
The stinks are here
It's guaranteed all's forgotten
Down here
Down here it's clear that your uncut
Don't fear
Don't fear, keep all this forgotten
Face down
Face down
Face down, I miss you something rotten
Face down
Face down, this crown is broken rotten

Down here, down here, I know its not, it's all forgotten
Down here, down here, face down, I miss you something rotten
Down here, down here, it stinks, it stinks of something rotten
Don't fear, don't fear, keep all this forgotten
There's something rotten down here
There's something rotten down here
There's something rotten down here
There's something rotten down here ..

PLASTICINE
vplacebov

Beauty lies inside the eye
Of another youthful dream
That doesn't sell its soul for self-esteem
That's not plasticine

Beauty lies inside desire
And every wayward heard redeemed
That doesn't sell its soul for self-esteem
That's not plasticine

Don't forget to be the way you are

The only thing you can rely on
Is that you can't rely on anything
Don't go and sell your soul for self-esteem
Don't be plasticine

Don't forget to be the way you are

SPECIAL NEEDS
vplacebov

Remember me when you're the one that's silver screened
Remember me when you're the one you always dreamed
Remember me whenever noses start to bleed
Remember me: special needs

Just nineteen, a sucker's dream
I guess I though you had the flavour
Just nineteen, a dream obscene
With six months off for bad behaviour

Remember me when you clinch your movie deal
Think of me stuck in my chair that has four wheels
Remember me through flash photography and screams
Remember me: special needs

Just nineteen, a sucker's dream
I guess I thought you had the flavour
Just nineteen, a dream obscene
With six months off for bad behaviour

I'LL BE YOURS
vplacebov

I'll be your water
Bathing you clean with liquid peace
I'll be your ether
You'll breathe me in
You won't release
I've seen you suffer
I've seen you cry the whole night through
So i'll be your water
Bathing you clean with liquid blue

I'll be your father
I'll be your mother
I'll be yours

I'll be your liquor
Bathing your soul in juice that's pure
I'll be your anchor
You'll never leave these shores that cure
I've seen you suffer
I've seen you cry for days and days
So i'll be your liquor
Demons will drown and float away

I'll be your father
I'll be your mother
I'll be yours

SECOND SIGHT
vplacebov

Walk away to save your face
You never were a genius
Walk away to save your face
You let it come between us
Walk away to save your face
You never were a genius
Walk away to save your face
You never were you never were

Yes it's just the second sight
But I would break backsides for you
Yes I know you're the jealous type
'cause i'm cursed with second sight so ..

Walk away to save your face
You never were an actor
Walk away to save your face
Here comes the morning after
Walk away to save your face
You never were an actor
Walk away to save your face
You never were you never were
Walk away

PROTECT ME FROM WHAT I WANT
vplacebov

It's the desire of the age
It's the disease that we crave
Alone at the end of the rave
We catch the last bus home
Corporate America wakes
Coffee Republic and cakes
We open the latch on the gate
Of the hole that we call our home

Protect me form what I want

Maybe we're victims of fate
Remember when we'd celebrate
We'd drink and get high until late
And now we're all alone
Wedding bells ain't gonna chime
With both of us guilty of crime
And both of us sentenced to time
And now we're all alone

Protect me from what I want

CENTREFOLDS
vplacebov

Come on Balthazar
I refuse to let you die
Come on fallen star
I refuse to let you die
'cause it's wrong
And i've been waiting for too long
For you to be
Be mine

All the centrefolds
That you can't afford
They've long since waved their
Last good-byes
All the centrefolds
That you can't afford
You've long since faded from
Their eyes
So be
Be mine
