Creation's Journey

 from Smithsonian Folkways

M

This is an ethnographically valuable recording, not really designed for entertaining listening. It was created as a companion to the book Creation's Journey: Native American Identity and Belief [Smithsonian Institution Press, 1994]. The first six cuts record dance music from the Blackfoot, Comanche, Navajo and White Mountain Apache tribes.  However, cut seven, Constitution Breakdown is traditional fiddle, unrelated to the tribal music that has gone before. Album also contains a Cherokee rendition of a protestant hymn by the Kingfisher Trio.
