Red Flag 77 were formed in Ipswich,uk during the summer of 1990. After playing just 3 gigs they had made their recording debut with 2 tracks on the “Punks not Dread” compilation lp (Punk anoraks note – The handsome guy on the cover is Rikki Flag)
The following few years saw several line up changes & a 5 track recording in 1993 (Still unreleased,apart from the original cassettes sold at gigs) By 1995 we put out the “Demolition Derby ep” on Weird Records (split with P.M.T.) this was as a five piece.Shortly after Bassist Glenn left (He now fronts ska-punk band The Ballistics) & Fanny moved from guitar to Bass duties.The now settled line up of

Continued, with the FLAG’S next offering being the split 7” with reformed Essex punks “Special Duties” on Knockout Records.Our 2 tracks “How low ?” & “Lipstick” were well received & remain firm crowd favourites to this day.
At this point we started to play our first dates in Europe.
Then came the “Look Mum ep” followed by the debut album “A short cut to a better world” both released on the bands own Menace Records. Although the original pressing was 1000,the album has since been re-released with a few extra tracks from the “Cut me up” 7”on Combat Rock Records in Europe and Beer City Records in the U.S.A.
The band continued to undertake regular small European tours,perform at some of the major festivals,do a tribute ep to The Adicts (split with Lovejunk) before adding a 2nd Guitarist in
MICKEY TRENTER – GUITAR
So back to full power as a 5 piece again the band released the “Stop the world” album on Captain Oi! Records in 2004.The band still haven’t made it to the U.S.A. yet,but still plan to.Early 2006 will see the band on a major 16 date European Tour with “The Lower class brats”.So watch out for “RED FLAG 77” in your town soon."
