Y-----s

.651

62-36

107-55

2

Mondesi batting .200, Weaver has an 8.10 ERA, and pitching staff struggling with injuries. And yet, I can't help but thinking that all will be well come September (and October).

2

Red Sox

.643

57-39

101-61

1

Bud Selig finds a new way to "honor" Teddy Ballgame - the key play made during the World Series each year will now be known as "The Ted Williams Frozen Moment".

3

Mariners

.632

60-39

101-61

3

M's, 5-6 on their post-ASG road trip, will try to pad their lead during a 13 game homestand against mostly lesser competition.

4

Angels

.600

58-39

96-66

4

For the Angels, the time is now. 5-2 so far vs playoff contenders Twins, A's and M's, with upcoming series against A's, M's, Sox, and Y---s.

5

A's

.577

58-41

95-67

5

Is Billy Beane a great GM or what? He turns a first baseman in the minors into a solid (and cheap) fourth starter, and sticks the Y-----s with a so-far ineffective Weaver in the process.

6

Twins

.522

59-41

93-69

6

Twins making a mockery of the AL Central.

7

Orioles

.512

47-49

82-80

8

O's Rodrigo Lopez is 10-3 with a 3.13 ERA. Bet the Padres are kicking themselves after letting him get away in the offseason.

8

White Sox

.444

46-54

75-87

7

What a waste! The AL Central could have been their's for the taking.

9

Blue Jays

.434

42-55

71-91

9

Jays are 8-3 after the break. Yup, they're really missing Mondesi - not!

10

Rangers

.416

41-57

65-97

11

Wonder what the record is for greatest separation between last and next to last in a division? Rangers currently sitting 16 1/2 games out of third.

11

Royals

.406

43-55

72-90

12

Break up the Royals! They're 10-3 since the All Star break.

12

Indians

.392

43-55

69-93

10

It must suck to be an Indians' fan these days, with most of their core players gone and with the Royals about to knock them into fourth place.

13

Devil Rays

.310

30-66

49-113

13

Only the Rangers' pitchers standing in the way of a DRay daily double - last in team batting average and last in team ERA.

14

Tigers

.300

35-62

54-108

14

Hey, here's a little something for next year's Tigers' media guide - the Tigers actually lead the league in triples (and probably also in runners stranded on third).

Teams are rated on three factors: average runs scored, average runs allowed, and winning percentage. Each of these is weighted by the team's strength of schedule, which is determined from the opponent's average winning percentage and their opponent's average winning percentage. The combination of the three weighted factors produces an overall rating.
