Red Sox

99-63

2

It's a sad state of affairs when Sox fans are longing for the return of Willie Banks.

.639

69-41

104-58

1

Can't wait to see Steinbrenner's face when he sees Floyd in a Sox uniform laying waste to his pitching staff.

3

Mariners

.631

69-43

101-61

3

M's defy critics by holding their AL West lead despite not making any deadline trades.

4

Angels

.609

65-45

97-65

4

Angels survive their brutal schedule stretch in good shape to nab a playoff spot.

5

A's

.563

64-48

92-70

5

A's looking like the weak sister in the battle for the wild card.

6

Twins

.552

69-43

98-64

6

If the Twins stay focused in August, they might just end up with the best record in the AL. Imagine that, Mr. Selig.

7

Orioles

.496

52-56

79-83

7

Hey Gary Matthews Jr - the only reason you didn't get suspended is that it hurts your team more if you play.

8

Blue Jays

.451

48-61

73-89

9

What goes around, comes around. Blue Jays, who lost Danny Ainge to the NBA, call up LHP Mark Hendrickson, former player for the Sixers, Kings, Nets and Cavs.

9

White Sox

.450

52-60

75-87

8

Kenny Williams making a bid to be the worst GM in the league after making some questionable trades.

10

Rangers

.427

47-64

68-94

10

A hell of a time for Carl to wake up from his season-long slumber!

11

Indians

.395

48-62

70-92

12

Much as I hate to say it, Thome and the Indians belong together.

12

Royals

.369

44-67

72-90

11

21st Century Schizoid Men. 10-3 for the first two weeks after the All Star break, 1-12 during the last two weeks.

13

Tigers

.337

41-69

58-104

14

Got to love GM Dave Dombrowski's response to Jeff Weaver's blasting of Tigers' manager Luis Pujols - "I would think Jeff would be concentrating on getting hitters out instead of commenting on managers."

14

Devil Rays

.330

37-73

54-108

13

DFA Central. The DRays designated Jason Smith for assignment, their seventh DFA so far this season. (BTW, how bad do you have to be to be DFA'd by the DRays?)

Teams are rated on three factors: average runs scored, average runs allowed, and winning percentage. Each of these is weighted by the team's strength of schedule, which is determined from the opponent's average winning percentage and their opponent's average winning percentage. The combination of the three weighted factors produces an overall rating.
