A New face each day

  • It's amazing how in the course of a day or two you can go from the most scrutinized and haggled player, to the hottest hitter and hero of the town. The person I speak of? Troy O'Leary.

As you can see from the boxscore and if you watched the game last night, Troy was not to be denied two games in a row of a chance to drive in some runs with the bases juiced. In the Sox six run 4th O'leary was the one who really got the wheels turning, with a one-out bases load single up the middle to score a couple of runs and put the Sox ahead for good in the game. Troy followed that up the next inning with a two-run triple down the right field line making his line for the night, 3-4 R 4RBI and a triple. Not a bad days work if you ask me.

That's also two straight three hit nights for O'leary, exactly the type of game we need to be getting out of him. With Nomar out until, most likely August, someone different is going to need to step up each night and get the job done. Last night it was Troy's turn.

The pitching? After another shaky start Tomo Ohka recovered nicely and pitched a very strong game, and struck out the side in the third along the way. He finished the night with 6IP 5H 2ER 3BB 5K and his first W of the season.

Finishing up the game for Ohka and grabbing a save along the way was Rolando Arrojo who did not yield a run and struck out five in his three innings of work. With the exception of Castillo on Wednesday both the Starting Pitching and the Bullpen has been great. If the offense could just stay on four cylinders, we'd be really ripping it up right now. But we are 6-3 heading into our first real test of the season and I will be there to witness it.

The Evil Empire come to town for a four game set with Paxton Crawford getting the call against El Puke. Most are saying we should be happy just getting a split out of this one since we are going up against NYs 'big four'. The heck with that, I want three. No more of this aiming low stuff, if we want to be the best, we have to beat the best. I don't know about the rest of you but I'm tired of being content with a split or just hanging in there and playing a good game. If we want the division, whether it's April or September, every game counts.

    I want three!
