YES!

  • Words cannot explain the feeling. There's no use going over the game itself in detail as anyone visiting the site today was glued to the TV last night for the first meeting between the Sox and Evil Ones. Unless of course, like myself, you were actually at the game and witnessed the absolute pandemonium that followed Manny's hit in the bottom of the 10th.

I really can't explain it. I've never seen so many people go absolutely nuts, and the best part about it was that, for the first time in my Fenway experiences, the Sox fans completely out numbered the New York fans. I mean it wasn't even close. Not once in the whole game did I hear an anti-Red Sox chant start. The words Nineteen Eighteen were never heard, because the second anything started it was completely drowned out by louder cheers for the Sox.

The atmosphere was completely different as well. I've been to about a dozen or so Y----- games in my lifetime, and at every one of them there was this 'tension' you could feel in the air. Not last night, last night was simply 33,000+ Red Sox fans making Fenway the most difficult park any opponent had ever visited. It was awesome.

As for the game itself, well, you know what happened, but what an absolute magnificent performance from Paxton Crawford. If there were ever a test you needed to pass to be truly be considered major league caliber, it's a Red Sox - Y-----s game, and Crawford came thru huge.

He kept his fielders busy as he only recorded one strikeout in his six innings of work. There were some sharp plays made and at points the D was a little shaky, but the Sox did not yield an error.

  • Derek Lowe.

After Manny's hit there was nobody happier in the stadium than he. Lowe was set to pick up the third of what would have been the Sox fourth loss after he relinquished the tie in the top of the tenth.

I don't know what it is with closers. They just seem to get into this mind-set that if it's not a save situation they go in the tank, and Lowe is no exception. Both of his losses to the Os were in non-save situations, I just don't get it.

Eh, let's not dwell. Lowe will be fine, the rest of the pen has been absolutely stellar, and most importantly we won.

There's actually much more I want to say, but I'm finding it tough to find the words. You just had to be there. It was an experience I will not soon forget.

Pedro vs. Rogah today at 1:05pm. For anyone, like myself, who doesn't have the luxury of having tickets to the game and is in the area, I'll be at the Brew House in Weymouth (next to CVS, and across the street from Boston Sports Clubs). Strikeout will be there as well, drop on by if you can.

    Go Sox!
