Huge Win

  • OK, this is going to be kind of a quick one. I'm in the middle of updating the weekly stats section, and since today's game has probably already started by the time you came here to read this, talking about yesterday isn't quite as interesting.

  • A few quick notes though:

An absolutely huge win for the Sox. They set themselves up for at worst, a split (though I will not be happy with one) which is what most were looking for going into this series. What also makes yesterday's win huge is the fact that we'll be facing probably the best pitcher the Y-----s have to throw at us, Mike Mussina. Add in the fact that Patriot's Day is notoriously a bad day for the Sox, things have gone almost as good as possible.

It was a bit upsetting that we had 15 hits as a team (14 off Pettitte) and we could only muster 5 runs out of it. There were tons of missed opportunities, but with the exception of Derek Lowe (again) the pitching was stellar and to repeat a cliche. Pithing and defense wins championships.

Speaking of defense (though it was sort of shaky with the three miscuse we made) who else has noticed the immense improvement in Brian Daubach? I don't think i've really touched on this at all, but Daubach has been nothing short of amazing at the hot corner, and especially in this series. From his picks out of the dirt to a few run saving dives on hotshots down the line.

From what I hear, even on days he doesnt start, Brian still does his work and then some over at the bag. Well the dividens are paying off for all that hard work, and it's not going unnoticed by this fan.

  • I really need to get to those stats so I can go to bed at a reasonable hour, so i'm going to cut it off here. Three of four would not only be great, but it would also be a nice statement from the Sox. You can throw the Wild Card to the birds, we're taking the divison.
