Great weekend to be a Sox fan

  • First, let me just apologize to those of you who visited the site on Sunday only to find no update. I went out on Saturday night and did some stuff that caused me to sleep for a very long time, basically until gametime at one yesterday, and since this is a one-man operation right now, you can see why the day had to be taken off.

  • Anyway, this is more like it, three game sweep, and against a team we should be sweeping. Friday behind Manny the bats were out in full force. Saturday we threw six more on the board behind a great performance from Paxton Crawford. Then yesterday, with a little less offense, but who needs O with Pedro the great on the hill, we completed the sweep and run the season record to 4-2.

Since it was so cold and raw yesterday, a hitter's worst nightmare, the light offense from the Sox was acceptable and expected. Anyone whose played ball in New England knows how difficult it is at the beginning of the season when it may be spring, but you're playing in winter temperatures.

Those temperatures also made any chance the D-Rays had of defeating Pedro, near impossible. He looks like he's in mid-season form, sixteen strikeouts in outing number two, wow.

We may only be Six games into the campaign, but so far the questionable Sox pitching staff has been anything but, compiling a Major League best 1.56 ERA. Obviously we can't expect it to be this good all season, but even if it's just half as good, and we keep putting runs on the board, good things are going to happen.

One other thing I'd like to point out from yesterday's game is that all three of our runs came with two-outs. Two driven in by Manny and the other from Carl Everett. We all know too well that two-out RBI were hard to come by last season, and this same game last year probably would have gone to extra innings and then who knows.

Again, it's still early, but right now, all signs point up.

Off day today, then Hideo Nomo takes the hill against the Os on Tuesday.
