Note from the Webmaster: This will be the last update for a few days as I will be following the team down to Texas to see the games on Friday and Saturday night. The first game we're along the first baseline somewhere and the second game were in the upper deck in right field. We're going to bring a Remy sign, so keep an eye out for us.

It's possible I may do tomorrows update tonight after the game, but my plane does leave at 6:00am tomorrow (check in at 5:00am), so with the game ending in the vicinity of 2:00am, I may go the route of a couple hours sleep instead of the update. Things should return to normal on Monday morning.

One big inning

  • That's all it took this time around. All said, I think we should be happy. No Manny, no Nomar, a banged up Everett, and we still managed eight runs. It may have been only one inning of production, but at least we took advantage of the opportunity.

David Cone (7IP 6H 2R 2ER 1BB 4K W): Two straight seven inning performances by Sox pitching, and both had instances where Captain Quick Hook probably would have taken them out. Only two innings handed over to the pen, I could get used to this. Cone has been nothing short of a Godsend all season, and we need it to continue.

Doug Mirabelli (1-3 2R 4RBI): Turned out to have the biggest hit of the night. At the time his Grand Salami made the score 8-0, but Pulsipher would try to allow the Halos back in the ninth. Without Belliman we lose 5-4, though Pulse probably never would have been in the game at the time if the score was closer.

Hindsight is always 20-20, but I'm sure some of you were also yelling at the ump when he didn't call ball four on that awful pitch to Mirabelli in the 3rd, it worked out this time I guess. What was also big about that homer was that it was with two outs. After four were in we still had em juiced with no outs and then the next two batters did nothing, until the Belliman came up.

Bill Pulsipher (0.2IP 2H 3R 3ER 2BB): May have pitched himself out of a job with that lackluster performance last night, forcing Joe K to use Urbina in the end. Starting tomorrow, there are several roster decisions to be made with the pitching, and Pulse may have just put his name at the top of the cut list.

Moved up a game up in both races, anyone for seconds?
