A nice wasted pitching performance by Fossum went by the boards and the pen even looked pretty sharp as well (Lowe). Unless things turn around (very doubtful) I'd say Fossum is in the rotation for the remainder of the season and will be the lead contender for the #5 spot in the order next season. At this point, the way things are going, and with Nomar rejoining the DL list (possibly for the remainder of the season), my prediction is that we complete the sweep tonight and go on to lose 6 of 7 to the Evil Empire just so we can choke another season down the tube. Negative? Of course I'm being negative, this team has given us nothing but reason to be negative since the break. Injuries? Stop making excuses, every team has them. Yeah we had more than most and to very key players, but if guys like Lowe, Bichette, Awfulman, and Mad Carl played to expected (not unrealistic, but expected) levels we'd probably be tied or even ahead by a game or two in the East. Just another season in the life of a Sox fan, forever hopeful every spring, only to be crushed every fall. I'm burnt... |
