Nomah!

  • He's baaaaaaack!. Need I say more? Where else could I possibly start with this one?

Nomar Garciaparra (2-4 R 3RBI HR): What could I possibly say to describe what happened yesterday? Without Nomar we lose that game, talk about an immediate impact. Did anyone take a second and just look at the line-up card for yesterday? Wow, that was a sick line-up and exactly the line-up we need in there to get a run going, a good run, an Evil Empire overtaking run.

David Cone (6IP 3H 2R 2ER 4BB 7K 1HR): Well we haven't seemed to be able to get him the win recently, but we're now 11-1 in games he starts. As long as the end result is a good one, I doubt that Cone minds.

Derek Lowe (1.1IP 0H 0R 0ER 0BB 3K S): That's the Derek Lowe we've all come to know and love. Probably looked as good as he has all year. Was it the return of Nomar? Was is some rest? Was it Derek finally saying 'screw it' to himself and just throwing? I really don't care, just as long as he pitches like that the rest of the way, we'll be looking real good.

No game today as we wait for the Angels to come to town. Definitely not a pushover team, but definitely a team we can take two of three from.

As far as the Evil Ones go, yes the 3.5 game lead stinks right now, but with the return of Nomar and with Pedro and Tek on the horizon I have full confidence that we can catch and pass them. Oh and another stat to throw out there, the Y-----s may be on a good run right now, but I'd just like to point out that their still only 23-25 vs .500+ teams. Guess who they've been beating during this streak? Yup, not .500+ teams.

Weekly stats to be updated tomorrow.
