DAMN!

  • I don't know what's worse having Hatteberg hit the crap out of the ball and watch Erstad chase it down, or just whiff or hit a weak grounder to end it. At least there was a little good news yesterday in that the Rangers helped us out and DD finally boosted the bullpen.

Rolando Arrojo (7IP 4H 2R 2ER 2BB 8K): Yet another start he could/should have won. Definitely suffering from the 'I am pitching in Pedro's spot so there will be no runs for me' disease. With the exception of a couple more walks and a few less innings pitched, Arrojo has been Pedro since he went down.

I know he hit a homer, but why was Mirabelli in that game?

Everett continues to transform into Troy O'Leary.

Speaking of Troy, would anyone else have rather seen Lansing or even Hillenbrand up in the ninth instead? Real close strike you swung at there Troy.

I cannot tell you how glad I am that July is over. No, it wasn't nearly as bad as last season's June Swoon (not even close), but for some reason we just couldn't get any consistent winning going for the month. Don't get me wrong, if you're going to go into what seems like a funk and you come out 14-12, I'll take that every time. But there was no real significant streak for the whole month, I don't think we won more than two in a row the whole time.

Nomar is back, Everett is back, Sabes is back, Castillo will be back next week, Pedro possibly in another 2-3, and Tek after that, time to put it in full gear for the stretch run. Oh, and we also got a nice boost in the pen with the addition of Ugeth Urbina from the Expos.

This has seemed to been the inevitable trade for a month now and it finally happened three minutes before the deadline. As long as he's healthy this is a BIG boost to the pen, finaly a real fire baller that can just chuck.

Sorry to see him go, but if we get a ring in exchange, I have no problem with the Sox giving up Ohka in the deal.

This shouldn't start any type of closer controversy at all (whatever Jimy decides), for one reason. This team has a real shot at doing something special and at this point in the season if you're bitching about your role or playing time, you're just a selfish ass, and I don't want you on this team. There it is, plain and simple, just take advantage of the situation and speak with your actions on the field, not with a whiney 'woah is me' voice in the clubhouse.
