Sometimes I don't get it

  • 16, 1, 13. This mean anything to anyone? Is there some sort of pattern? All I know is that until we get some healthy bodies back in the line-up we just don't know what we're going to get from the offense each night.

First we pound the Jays on our way to 3 of 4 over the weekend, then we head to Cleveland where we get shut down for one run against Jay Westbrook? Then, yesterday, against a much better pitcher in Dave Burba we run rampant again. Ah, the life of a Sox fan.

Anyway, I feel completely out of touch with the team lately. With my recent move and now being on vacation I'm not going thru my normal daily routine, which usually includes allot of Sox stuff. Oh well, things will return back to normal soon enough.

Dante Bichette (4-5 3R 4RBI 2-2B HR): What can I say? He's flat out leading the way for the O the last month. What Manny hasn't driven in, Dante has.

Tim Wakefield (6IP 6H 4R 4ER 3BB 4K W): Not his best start of the season, but effective nonetheless. Is there any doubt that Wakes is invaluable to this team? Oh, and I'll get to the all-star snubbing he received from Joe "I have lost all respect for you" Torre, in a sec.

Bill Pulsipher (1.2IP 1H 0R 0ER 0BB 2K): Where the heck did this guy come from? Actually he was supposed to be 1/3 of the Mets trio that was to lead the way for years to come. But like the other two, injuries have plagued Pulsipher his entire career. Yep, another reclamation project, but if it works as it is now, I'll take it.

  • Ok, now it's time to bitch and moan a bit. Can anyone believe that Joe friggin Torre selected 7, yes 7, Y-----s to the all-star team? I'm not saying the Sox deserved the spots, but how the heck did he come up with seven more deserving than a few of the guys who got snubbed? Namely Tim Wakefield. After Pedro he's the best pitcher in the game ERA wise, but Torre opted to go with Mike Stanton? What! I could care less how good a season he's having, it's still not as good as Wakes. Why do I get the sick feeling that some of these selections came from 'above' so to speak. Either way though it's ridiculous and almost as bad as David Bell almost getting the all-star start over any other 3B in the league.

I'm going to stop there, I'm just completely sickened by the whole thing. No wait, I'm going to complain some more. Why wasn't Miguel Tejada taken over Jeter or Christian Guzman? Click on their names and look at the numbers, I don't get it. As much as I hate the Evil Empire and anyone who bares pinstripes I had some respect for their manager. No more. Torre you have truly lived up to what we have all come to know in the Y----- name.

I'm not done, but I'm also not going to bother everyone with a rant that won't help anything anyway. David Cone heads to the hill for the finally of this three game set and it would obviously be great if we could leave Cleveland (before heading home for the Braves) with two of three.
