8th inning

  • So what is it with the Sox and the 8th inning against the D-Rays? I guess this doesn't happen all the time but it is the second series in a row with the D-Rays in which there was a game the Sox struggled at the plate until the 8th inning, and then just blew up and turned it into a laugher. Nothing really special about it, just something I thought I'd point out.

David Cone (5.1IP 6H 2R 2ER 2BB 4K): Another good start and the third time in a row the Sox have won when he pitches in the game. If this is what where going to get from our #5 guy, 5-6IP and 2-3ER, on a consistent basis, I'm going to be absolutely be ecstatic. Some teams pray their #3 does this well, never mind the five spot.

Dante Bichette (3-4 R 4RBI HR): Obviously the offensive stud of the night. Drove in the first run of the game and also was the one to drive the nail into the coffin in the 8th. Manny still seems to be struggling, so it was perfect timing for Dante to have a big game. The rest of the team has really stepped it up while Manny works thru this slump.

Sox Bullpen (3.2IP 1H 0R 0ER 0BB 2K W): With the exception of the occasional blip on the radar these guy keep doing it night in and night out. There's no way where in the position we are, at this point in the season, without the guys in the pen.

  • Go Tigers: They did it for us again, the Tigers took the Evil Empire down for a second night in a row and have helped us extend our hold on 1st by our largest margin of the season, 3 & 1/2 games. Would it be too much to ask for three in a row? Probably, but I'll ask for it anyway. Let's go Ti-gers!

  • Return of the Pedro: The much anticipated Return of the Pedro will open tonight in Tampa Bay. Some are skeptical whether or not this is a worth while venture, but either way you look at it, the first go around was a hit so part two with draw all eyes as well.

Ok, that was bad, sue me.
