Should have been 3

  • Instead we lead the AL East by only one game over the 'Evil Ones'. I'm still confused as to why Pedro only went six innings. At that point in the game he had only thrown 95 pitches and we all know Pedro is usually good for 125-130. There had to be a good reason, especially since the pen was depleted during the weekend series in Toronto.

    Luis freaking Sojo? C'mon!

Pedro Martinez (6IP 6H 3R 3ER 1BB 10K): Seemed like his regular self last night, I didn't notice anything 'off' so to speak. Of course the three earned runs looks weird knowing Pedro's normal line, but it happens from time to time.

Pete Schourek (0IP 1H 0R 0ER 1BB 0K): Just loves to come in and blow up. I really like the fact that our 'lefty specialist' is awful against lefties. Wait a minute, he's awful in general. Occasionally he'll get someone out, heck, occasionally I'd get someone out. I'm tired of hearing about how this guys keep battling back after arm problems and the like, the bottom line is how you perform, and he just doesn't.

Rod Beck (0.1IP 1H 1R 1ER 2BB 0K L): Why didn't he go right after Sojo? I know Beck doesn't have great stuff, but Luis Sojo for crying out loud. He goes 3-1 on the guy and then has to give him something to hit. I was actually kind of surprised to even see Beck in the game at all, it seemed to me he pitched allot in the Toronto series.

Manny Ramirez (3-5 2R 2RBI HR): Quickly making Rivera his little (fill in the blank).

Oleary - Bichette: I know Troy hit a homer last night, but why didn't Bichette start? I know I've complained about the two of them enough to make everyone sick, but Bichette has been hot lately, I don't get it. Though when he did get in there he did nothing but swing at three pitches out of the zone. UGH!

We've still won 5 of our last 6 and we battled back into that game when in the past we'd have gone 3 and out in the ninth (Manny factor), but I still can't help but think about what is now 1 and could have been 3.
