Pedro shows signs of being human

  • Seeing as the weekend is usually very slow for the site, i'm going the lazy route again. The recap below is, again, courtesy of ESPN.com.

  • SARASOTA, Florida (Ticker) -- Pedro Martinez is in midseason form.

    A three-time Cy Young Award winner, Martinez allowed just two hits in six innings and the Boston Red Sox posted a 5-3 win over the Cincinnati Reds in a Grapefruit League game.

    Displaying his impeccable control, Martinez struck out seven and walked none. He yielded a solo home run to Sean Casey in the second inning and a single by Michael Tucker in the third.

    Kent Mercker retired all four batters he faced for the save.

    Brian Daubach highlighted a three-run first inning with a two-run single and Darren Lewis added a solo homer in the fifth for the Red Sox.

    Reds ace Pete Harnisch pitched six innings and surrendered four runs and five hits for his third loss of the spring.

    Fearing the worst

  • Heard on the radio on my way to work yesterday morning that Nomar is now leaning towards surgery. If this is the case he won't be back til August at the earliest. ARGH!

    There has to be a higher power at work here. What did we do?
