Four game review

  • Sorry I didn't updated over the long weekend, but as most of you know weekend updates (even for the Evil Empire) are few and far between. Lets talk about the games shall we?

  • Friday night the Sox win 3-2 with an unlikely hero in Darren Oliver. If Oliver does nothing else this season other than beat the Y-----s, then he is worth the roster spot. For pretty much no reason Oliver has had the Y-----s number his whole career, upping his record to 5-1 Vs the Evil Ones. Ugi comes in and gets the save, but why can't it be an easy one? This guy scares the hell out of me.

  • Saturday, Sox win 7-6. I was lucky enough to find myself in the stadium at game time. How I got in will remain top secret information (but the word free is involved). Looks like Pedro is still holding back some. I can't believe I'm going to say this, but I agree with what Rob Dibble said after the game. Pedro's arm is fine, but it's like he's waiting for pain that's not there (much like I'm going through with my ankle at the moment, bad sprain), and it's affecting his pitching. Like I mentioned earlier, I don't expect the real Pedro to show up until May-ish.

Is Shea Hillenbrand for real? I don't know, but I love the plate discipline he's learned all of a sudden. Biggest home run of the season to date.

Sunday's loss I blame on two people, Grady Little, and Willie Banks. Little for making the decision to take Wakefield out. He was cruising, I realize he had thrown 95 or so pitches at the time, but hello, he's a knuckleballer he can do that. I blame Banks because he completely sucks. I can't wait till Burkett comes back and kicks his ass off the roster. Sunny Kim looked good though when he came in for Banks. Is he finally developing into a good relief pitcher?

  • Finally, yesterday's game. Had they lost, I think I would have gone down to the stadium and started shoving hamburgers down El Guapo's throat. He's been awful so far this season, and it's still early, but he's simply not looking promising so far. And what the heck is up with Urbina? Can anything be easy?

What an amazing start Hillenbrand has got himself off on. A bases load walk? Wow! I know it's only April, but if Shea stays consistent, he's going to start reminding me of a Travis Fryman type, and that is definitely something to get excited about.

Off to Toronto for two starting tonight, I believe Castillo is on the mound. Let's keep it in first guys, keep it in first.
