Not that anymore hot coals need to be added to the fire but something donned on me last night while watching the game. The two ESPN announcers were commenting on how the Sox lead the AL in runs per game and also their staff also leads in runs per game (least runs per game). Now if that isn't enough to to send you out of your mind here's the thought that came to me. Way back at the beginning of the season, you know, when we actually won two in a row occasionally, I remember a stat that was put up on ESPN during sports center. I don't remember specifically what it was but it had to do with the number of wins the Sox had at the time. The thing about this statistic was that only two teams in the HISTORY OF BASEBALL failed to make the playoffs after getting win # whatever by a certain date (somethign to that effect). Well, not only are we going to add team #3 to that embarassig list, but this list will only contain Red Sox teams. Yep, that's right, only the Red Sox have been able to manage atrocities like this on a consistant basis. Here's to being the laughing stock of the game. |
