It's not a winning streak

  • Two games is a step in the right direction, but you need three in a row to call it a wining streak. Though with Pedro bumped to tonight something unprecedented for the month of August could be on the horizon.

Guess there's really nothing bad (about the actual game) you can say about last night. Heck even Castillo pitched well. When was the last time you could say that? The injury to Damon isn't going to help though, I guess the prognosis was that he dislocated his ring finger on his left hand (throwing hand). I have no idea if a dislocation is worse or better than a break. My gut says it's not as bad, but I really don't know. Can anyone shed some light?

What a lift Hermanson gave the team replacing Pedro for the night. Though I thought it ironic that Grady put him back into the same situation that put him on the shelf to begin with (rain). I believe I heard that Burkett's turn is being skipped this time around to make room for Hermanson (so I guess that means the question of who goes to the pen is still up in the air). If you were wondering who got the axe, Chris Haney was designated for assignment.

Big night for Manny, but he seems to have been doing that right along. Have a big night, then do nothing for a few games. Lets see what the encore is for tonight.

As much as I've bitched and moaned about having to go to tonight's game, I guess I can't really complain anymore. They go into the most important series of the season on a slight upswing and Petey is on the mound. The real test will be if the bats can continue or if yesterday was just a one-night stand.

Yesterday is exactly the type of game that has been skewing the team’s stats all year. We've been on the better side of most of the blowouts, which is a big reason for our AL lead in runs per game. On sports center last night they put up a stat that said in the Sox last 15 wins they've outscored their opponents 119-27. Over those same 15 wins they've lost 16, scoring only 53 runs (average of 3.31 per game), and losing 8 of them by a run.

Consistency is the name of the game and they're going to need it more than any other time during the season this weekend. No less than 3 of 4 from Anaheim will be acceptable for any small spark of light to shed back on the season. Anything less, well, we've come to expect it anyway.
