Were you really surprised?

  • You shouldn't have been. From Hillenbrand's error that lead to an unearned run, to Fossum giving a nice, fat, juicy, gopher ball to Spezio on an 0-2 pitch, to Varitek hitting into a DP to end a promising inning in the 8th, to the continual choking when we had Sele on the Ropes, you simply knew this game was going to be blown at some point.

I wasn't even all that mad when it happened. I guess since I knew it was coming it was easier to deal with. Like an idiot though I did watch the whole thing. Well, at least I was in front of the computer the whole time doing something constructive as well.

  • This is not a playoff team. The Red Sox are NOT going to the playoffs this year. Not a stones throw chance in hell. PERIOD! The way the roster is right now, they cannot, will not, and flat out won't get it done.

It's great that Tek is hot right now, who wouldn't be excited about it? But when you have to depend on a guy like Tek, one whom you consider it a bonus when he hits, to be your number 6 hitter. Well... need I say more?

Besides, playoff teams don't blow four games in the last inning in TWO WEEKS! Four games where we had the victory in our grasp and, like true Red Sox teams, found yet another way to lose. Per usual, as always, pick your phrase it doesn't matter.

The trading deadline looms and we need a bat, a starting pitcher, and a bullpen. Considering the fact that it's doubtful management will fill one of those needs, never mind all three, what we have is another Sox season in the %$&# hole. Eh, it's not like we've never gone thru this before.
