Running Red Sox

  • When the heck was the last time the Sox stole four bases in a game? Heck, even Varitek outright stole a base. It wasn't even a hit and run, he just went. Obviously the Sox picked up on something the Rockies were doing wrong, but damn, Varitek?

Alot of good things happened last night, first and foremost being the win and the end of that 3 game skid. What else? Beating a lefty starter (Neagle), Daubach with a homer off a lefty, Nixon with a big two-out run scoring hit Vs a lefty, four two-out RBIs as a team, and Manny Ramirez took BP yesterday.

Lowe didn't pitch his best game last night, but when you're going good you don't have to pitch well all the time to win. Also I thought it was a good move when Little took Lowe out in the sixth inning (only 82 pitches). At first it scared the heck out of me, but when it turned out he was just giving Lowe a short night in a seeming under control game, all was well. No need to make him throw 100+ pitches every time out if it can be helped. Lowe has never been a starter for a full schedule, and we don't need him getting a 'dead arm' in August.

  • As expected and exactly on cue, the D-Backs rolled over and played dead last night in New York. Their less than stellar bull-pen, was allot less than stellar last night. Brett Prinz relieved Randy Johnson in the 8th with two out and the bases juiced (along with a 4-3 lead). Prinz then proceeded to go 3-0 to Shane Spencer before working back a full count and then laying a meatball over the center of the plate, where it was turned in to a salami.

If you want something done right, don't count on someone else to do it for you. Arrojo goes tonight, and as long as it doesn't rain, I'll be out in section 35.
