3/14/02 So far this spring Offerman has been playing well, looks like he may have got a bit of a wake up call when the Sox borught in so many second basemen to audition for the spot. Under the Harrington/Duke regime, Offy would be safe as the team refused to 'eat' a contract regardless of how little said player was doing for the team. But with what reporters gathered from Henry, that brand of idiocy is finally out the window. Regardless if Offy has a good spring at the plate, he'll never be a good fielder, his lack of talent in the field and his unwillingness to even try to get better in the end is going to be his demise (if it hasn't come already). With this new news, i'll be very surprised to see Jose's name on the 23 man roster that heads to Fenway for the first game of the season. |
