What's Up With Pedro?
3/18/02

  • Didn't like the way Pedro got his head beat in on Saturday, not at all. He says he's fine, and like I always try to emphasise, it was only a spring training game. Nonetheless, when it's Pedro you'r talking about, it doesn't really matter what the circumstances are, I'm a little concerned.

And what's this I'm hearing about a possible work stoppage? I haven't read the full article yet (link above) but the quick blurb I did read had John Burkett not ruling out the possibility. If what happened in 1994 happens again, it may be it for me. Oh, i'll still be a fan, and this site isn't going anywhere, I'm talking about going to games and buying merchandise. The bulk of the money is made off ticket sales and team merchandise, and i'll have absolutely nothing to do with it if we have 1994 all over again.

Hopefully it won't come to that and we can continue to worry about the standings instead of whether or not games are going to be played at all.

  • On a lighter note, I tuned in to part of the game yesteday against the Phillies (switching between commercials from the NCAA tourney), and for the first time I got a look at Carlo Baerga and what all the talk has been about. The guy looks amazing, I really thought I was looking at the Baerga that made the all-star team during his days with the Indians. Don't get me wrong, looks don't translate into success, and he is fighting for a back-up job, but if we could get a little taste of what Carlos used to be...
