Huge Test Today 3/5/02
If I'm not mistaken, it's Pedro's turn on the mound today against the Braves. Whether or not he's experienced no pain thus far this spring and all his practice sessions have gone well, this will be the first real test of his shoulder. The big question will be how he feels when he wakes up tomorrow. I doubt Pedro will ever really be out of the woods as far as reinjury goes this year, but throwing 2-3 innings and waking up on Wednesday with no problems, will alieve some of my fears for the season.
To avoid looking or sounding like a hypocrite I have to file my first beef with the new Sox ownership/interim General Manager. Even though I think Joe K doesn't belong as the Sox manager, he also doesn't deserve to be hung out to dry as he is right now. Just give the guy, and Sox fans, an answer, yes or no. This is something DD would have be ridiculed to no end for, and I see no reason to allow new ownership to slide, this is the type of thing that caused all the club-house problems to begin with.
Couple of wins yesterday as the Sox played with a split squad. The record means nothing, but atleast we won't start off 0-10 or 2-12 like last year.
