I get a mulligan

  • Because for the first time since I was 11 or 12 (and I had no choice in the matter) I left a game early. Wait, I have a good reason. My wife was with me, and as some of you know, we are expecting. She's currently 16 weeks along and the 1 hour rain dealy along with the cold and dampness, was too much for her. She wanted to leave in the fourth, but held out as long as she could wich was after all the fireworks in the 6th inning. So as far as I'm concerned my "haven't left a game early" streak is still in-tacked.

As for the game (the portion I saw) itself, good to see the bats still working while Manny is on the shelf. Both Hendeson and Clark (who last night I nick-named Tony Clunk becasue he's such a slug on the base paths) were big contributors in the win. But guess what guys? One game doesn't cut it. Rickey, Tony, we want, need, and will have more of what we got last night from you two. From Hendersons two big two-out run scoring hits, to Clark's reaching base 3 of 4 times (along with an RBI single). We will have more of the same.

  • Something else I'd like to mention is that Trot Nixon (who started his 4-game suspension) was almost sorley missed last night. In the fourth inning when the A's scored thier run, it was with two outs and a sinking line was hit at Dauber in right. I was sitting three rows behind the Sox bull-pen, so I had a great view of the play. That ball that fell in and allowed, at the time, the go ahead run to score, would have been caught by Trot. It wasn't an easy play by any means, but it was a catch that would have been made by a more seasoned outfielder. Lucky for us though we have some of the hottest bats in the game, but at the time, and with Hudson on the mound, that's all it might have taken.

  • So far so good with Burkett, alot of hits, but also no walks, so all in all 9 baserunners over 6 innings isn't all bad. Lowe hits the hill tonight (obviously not last night as I had mentioned in the last update), with Hiljus going for the A's. We beat this guy before, I see no reason...
