Rickey Ball

  • So far he's been backing it up with his play on the field (Rickey). But this is only game 3 of probably close to 30 Manny is going to miss, so it had better continue.

Mr Clunk contributed for the second game in a row and even hit the ball very hard a couple of times, though i've stopped seeing hitting the ball hard as a sign of good things to come. Sometimes getting good wood on the ball is more detrimental if they don't fall in for you. But he did come back with that triple after hammering one in his previous at bat, right into the 2B-mans glove. Need another notch Clunk.

How good are things for Shea right now? Even when he hits a little fizzler he ends up on base. Two infield hits with the bases juiced, has that happened before?

Oh, can't forget Lowe of course, he's just quietly putting together the best season of his career at this point in the year.

  • We now have four games left of the original 12 we had coming up between Oakland and Seatte. As I've said a couple of times, I would have been satisfied with a 6-6 mark. Well at this point we are 6-2 over that span with all the remaining games at home. I changed my demand to 7-5 the other day, but now I want what I was originally pushing for, 8-4. 8-4 would mean we split over the next four games and I see no reason we can't do that.

ESPN has Castillo listed as going tonight (though I thought it was Olivers turn), regardless, Castillo's challenge on his suspension will be heard before his start, so we'll see if he actually takes the mound or not, I suspect Wakefield will take his spot if the suspension is upheld.

  • They almost blew it, but the D-Rays help us out last night in defeating the Evil Empire. El Puke was wrecked allowing 8 earned runs in less than 2 innings. As expected with a lead that early in the game (no matter how big) you figured the Rays would probably blow it. But they were able to hold on for a 10-7 victory and help us out a game in the standings.
