Bounce back

  • Good to get a win to start the road trip after an embarrassing loss on Sunday night. Castillo looked decent and the bats continued on their merry way against yet another good pitcher.

How much longer is Jose Offerman going to stay in the line-up? Make it three games in a row now where he's had a rally killing double play. Put Daubach at first (where he belongs over Jose, why the heck was he the DH last night?) and have Baerga as the DH. Jose, meet Mr. Pine, you guys are going to get very close during the rest of the season.

Ring ring. Ring ring. Hello? Yes, Mr. Port, this is Red Sox Nation. We just wanted to let you know that the bullpen freaking sucks and something needs to be done immediately. With the exception of Oogie and Arrojo the last couple of outings, well, lets just say I've seen better pitchers in a photo album.

No I didn't forget about Wakefield, but I consider him a starter not a reliever. Arrojo really has been pretty good his last two times out, but he's too damn inconsistent to rely on too heavily. What is up with Guapo?

Pedro tonight, and no help from the White Sox last night. With a three game series in NY for the weekend (and after failing to go 4-3 against Chicago and NY, 3-4 instead, at home), we need a sweep of this Toronto series so we can get one in NY and be satisfied with it.

  • One final note for today. Not sure if anyone else checked out ESPN last night, but the Monday night game was Colorado at San Diego. Mike Hampton was on the hill for Colorado and WOW, he looked awful. Unless the Rockies agree to pay 80% of the contract, forget it. I realize he may return somewhat to form just by getting out of Colorado, but we don't have time for him to use a month or so worth of starts to get himself straightened out. No idea what happened to him, but the Mike Hampton of two years ago is completely gone.
