Maybe it was because, by his standards, Pedro looked just as bad last night as he did opening day against the Jays in the first three innings. Had it been Castillo who held the Jays to four runs over six innings, we probably would have been happy with the performance. Maybe it was because we had plenty of opportunity to blow the game open and not need Oogie's services on the night, but the whiff seemed to be the order of the night. It seems the only reason we were able to come back and win was because of the lack of control Kelvim Escobar displayed on the mound in the ninth. Three walks, including two with the bases loaded. Like I said, as long as we get a win, I don't care, maybe it just seemed worse than it was. Oh, and no I didn't forget about Offerman finally making a contribution, but he'll get no pat on the back from my end, not until he starts to show some consistency (good consistency). Were it not for Offy actually hustling, he would have hit into yet another rally killing double play last night. We didn't end up scoring that inning anyway, but that's not the point. I guess if I'm going to eviscerated Offerman for rally killing, I have to at least mention Baerga's lack of help at the plate last night, getting two bases loaded opportunities with less than two outs and managing to hit into DP and a nubber that allowed the run to be forced out at home. Not good Carlos, not good. No help from Chicago, AGAIN! Complete the sweep. |
