Need another notch

  • Guess we couldn't have asked for much more in the Oakland series, three games, three wins. That's great and all but there's no time to sit and be happy, it's onto a bigger challenge starting tonight (Seattle).

The bats are going to have to stay hot becasue the back end of the rotation has the mound for the next two games. It's not that I don't think Oliver and Castillo will pitch well, but we all know what both of them are like on a bad day, and this (IMHO) is a better line-up than what was in Oakland.

From our perspective there is some good news going into this Mariner series as has been mentioned on the message board. First, the M's ace will not pitch in this series (Freddy Garcia), second one of the biggest bats in the line-up is still out (Edgar Martinez), and lastly the pen is very much short-handed with the abscence of Jeff Nelson (just hit the 15-day DL) and Kazuhiro Sasaki (who returned to Japan for personal reasons).

So there are four things in our favor, but we all know from unfortunate experience that no matter the factors in your favor, anything can happen. And since this is all going on on the west coast it makes it that much harder.

  • No help from the D-Rays the past three days. Not that I expected them to really do anything against the Evil Empire, but I figured that after all those losses (14 in a row right now) they'd win by accident by now. Oh well, maybe well get some help this weekend as the Empire heads to Minnesota.

Frank Castillo tonight, lets keep the offense going.
