Stepping up

  • Take out his last start where he only lasted 2/3 of an inning and Fossum has had two very good outings in a row. Low strikeout total for him, but that also kept the pitch count down and in turn allowed Casey to go further than normal (for him).

Was it not great to see Wakes coming out of the pen last night? I had no reservations what-so-ever, what was a comfortable lead, actually was a comfortable lead.

  • I watched BBT last night and one of the program's features was Nomar's fielding woes. They offerd some sound advice on what he may be doing wrong and Harold Reynols even came to Nomar's defense, saying that he's too good a player for this to go on for very long.

But it was confirmed last night for me that Bobby Valentine (who has predicted the Sox to win it all) is only there to try and sir the pot (give the program an edge). While they were going thru the whole segment and each analyst got their two cents in, Valentine said that his tips to fix Nomar's probem is for everyone but Nomar, because he doesn't like to be coached.

Obviously none of us know what goes on in work-outs or behind the scenes, but where did that comment come from? In the seven seasons Nomar has been here, anyone even hear of Noamr being uncoachable? Granted most superstarts don't really need to be told what to do, the coaches are just there to keep then on the straight and narrow, but I've never heard of Nomar being uncoachable.

Funny how garbage like this always comes up when a player or team isn't playing to their capability. All of a sudden it has to be a personality thing, or something outside the game, instead of just a simple slump. Heck, I even eluded to that in yesterday's write up, damn human nature.
