loose ends

This is where other cancer-related things will go as I think of them. I'm not entirely sure what that entails, but I'm sure I've forgotten something!

My chemotherapy protocol for advanced Hodgkin's Disease started out as BEACOPP = Bleomycin, Etoposide (VP-16), Doxorubicin (Adriamycin - "red devil"), Cyclophosphamide (Cytoxan), Vincristine (Oncovin), Procarbazine, Prednisone.

At the half-way point of my treatments, my scans showed that I was a "rapid early responder", so my treatment was changed to COPP/ABV = Cyclophosphamide (Cytoxan), Vincristine (Oncovin), Procarbazine, Prednisone, Doxorubicin (Adriamycin - "red devil"), Bleomycin, Vinblastine

Chemo protocols can be very confusing at first because they are just a bunch of letters, and half the time the drugs that the letters stand for have been given a new name and it usually doesn't even start with the same letter (i.e. Adriamycin is the "A" in BEACOPP, but it is now called Doxorubicin although the protocol is still known as BEACOPP!) Adding to that, each drug seems to have at least 3 different names, so things can get very mixed up!
