| I went to Mary Hare in 1991, I was eleven. It's a boarding school, which is for deaf people, and it's an oral school. It was different from my primary school, Heathlands, as it was signing school, so this was my first experience in an oral school. I stayed in Mary Hare for seven years, I left in 1998. If I could do it all over again, I would as it was the best seven years I had there. I learnt lots of things, also I made the best friends there. I still keep in contact with my friends from Mary Hare, and in fact three of my closest friends from Mary Hare live in Derby. |

| In
Mary Hare, I had to wear special aids called Headphones, which helps us to
understand what the teachers and pupils are saying in the classroom. To be
honest, I hated them, because it was so heavy and painful to wear.
Sometimes I had to wear them for more than an hour, it gave me a headache,
as other pupils would make so much noise to annoy others!!.
