June 25: San Francisco, CA to

Los Angeles, CA

Miles Driven on June 25: 349

This morning we had breakfast at Jasmine's Cafe, a little mom and pop store. Good home fries. The breakfast burrito looked good too. Then we went to the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Parade. Saw Dykes on Bikes (shirts and bras optional), Mikes on Bikes, Tykes on Bikes. Men in flamboyant drag. A lot of political and public health advertising on floats. Politicians including Congresswoman Nanci Pelosi, openly gay state rep. Carol Midgen, and SF mayor Willie Brown. A nice, tall man standing nearby helped me get pictures. I have to mail him copies since he and his female companion didn't have a camera. Also heard two German girls standing behind me; again I was able to use some of the language strategically and correctly.

At about 12:00 we left the parade, packed up my stuff, and soon I was on the road. A very boring drive down I-5, lots of traffic around the Grapevine area (and lots of overheated cars to boot). I started to get nervous as I got close to home, wondering if I made the right decision coming home again. I guess time will tell.
