Campaigns
Currently we are only working on one campaign, which is the phone call and letter writing campaign to members of the U.S. government and
to international, national, and local media. It is imperative that we let the media know the situation in Palestine. And even though most
media networks, channels, and stations know about the situation in Palestine, most refuse to report the truth. We are hoping that if we put
enough pressure on them they will eventually report the truth about what is happening in Palestine. If we can get them to do that, then
the U.S. public will become more conscious about what is going on in Palestine.
Another part of this campaign is to "slam" the U.S. government. If there is any one government in the world that can get the Israeli
government to stop attacking and occupying Palestine, it is the U.S. government.
We have recieved quite a few e-mails regarding the best way to handle this campaign of slamming the media and U.S. government. Below we
have taken what we feel are the best tactics that people have shared with us.
Please do whatever you can do in order to make sure that the media reports the truth about what is happening in Palestine and to make sure
that the U.S. government does whatever it takes to stop the Israeli military from attacking Palestine anymore.
Ideas to Slam the Media And U.S. Government:
- The most obvious one is to e-mail or snail mail a letter to different media outlets, reps, senators, etc...
- Another thing you can do is send a letter to all the different media outlets, senators, reps., etc... We have made a list of
all the national media's e-mail addresses and have provided links to all the different Senators and Represenatives. The links that are on
Slam are very easy to navigate through, so you won't have to spend a lot of time searching for these different addresses,
phone numbers, etc...
- If you wanted to send a letter to all the above more than one time (say 3 or 4 times a week), you don't necessarily have to write
a different letter each time. Just save the letter that you wrote and send it again. Mabye you could just change the content in it. Also,
if you save all the addresses that you send to in your address book, you won't even have to spend time finding the addresses to whom you want
to send it to. To us, this seems like one of the best ways that you could get your point across
- Create a bunch of different e-mail addresses through Hotmail or some other service so as to appear like more than one person (we are sure
some of you do this anyway).
- Tell your friends about this campaign and get them to send e-mails, letters, and make phone calls. If you get one other person to do it
and they in turn get one person to do it, so on and so forth, the amount of slamming we can get done will grow exponentially.
- One great idea that someone had sent in to us is to find a short item of breaking news on an indymedia web site, and use
the
indymedia "email this" facility to send it to many newspaper
newsdesks/editors. Say in the Comment section: "More breaking news from www.jerusalem.indymedia.org; www.palestine.indymedia.org;
www.italia.indymedia.org (English translations added to some "Breaking News"); www.indymedia.org For email address type: "English
speaker on ground:" And put at Your Name: 00 972(0)67 270 398 An example of a short breaking news item which could be used is on
www.italia.indymedia.org 3/4 12.07 "Breaking News Update" Then just keep putting different email addresses in the email-to field. This
method would save you a lot of time in having to cut and paste the articles, they would automatically go to the recipient of the e-mail.
- If anybody can think of any other suggestions please e-mail us at resisttheoccupation@yahoo.com.
