THE STORY
Paul and Fabrizio were asked to start a two-piece band to enter the national song contest 2004. Both of them were delighted, because they had worked together in a boyband, All Of Us. A name was found easily as they call themselves Re-union.
National song contest
In the semifinal of the national songcontest Re-union got lots of good response on their song and voices. No judge had any bad comment on their act and they got 54 out of 60 points. The viewers were enthusiastic too as Re-union got 49% from the voters!! Re-union went to the final.
The lads had given a good act in the final and once again the judge had no bad comment on them. To hear the result was excited because there were many good acts in the final. The judge gave Re-union 60 out of 60 points and 19% were given by the voters. Which means the lads had won with 108 points the national song contest’s final.
Without you
The release of Without You was on February 26th and they got good response. The song went straight to number 38 in the Mega Top 50. In the Tip Parade the lads went from number 30 to number 8 in the second week!!
But the lads are trying to get well known abroad as well. This song will be released in Belgium within few weeks time and hopefully the song will be doing in the charts well.
At the moment Re-union are very busy with promoting the song across the Netherlands and soon in Belgium as well. But it isn’t sure whether Re-union go to the final of the Eurovision song contest as they first have to go through the semifinal of the Eurovision songcontest.
FABRIZIO PENNISI
Fabrizio Pennisi was born on 28 September 1979 in Sicily, Italy and brought up in musical surroundings. His father, who's a singer and guitarplayer as well, gave Fabrizio a guiter on a very young age and taught him to play some guitar chords. From that day on Fabrizio started to love music. Soon Fabrizio joined his father to performances in restaurants, weddings and other events.
As a teenager Fabrizio moved to Belgium. Together with his father and brother (who also plays the guitar) each minute had been filled with music. Performances were given in restaurants and in different events across The Netherlands and Belgium. Everytime people got moved by their beautiful Italian songs.
In May 1998 Fabrizio was noticed by a prominent conductor. The conductor was impressed by the high voice of Fabrizio and introduced Fabrizio to songwriter and producer Ed van Otterdijk. By that time Fabrizio was 18 years old and loved to make music as his profession.
In the same year All Of Us was set up and Fabrizio became one of the five members. After a couple of months of intensive training in singing, dancing and performing All Of Us took part in the national songcontest 1999. Eventhough they didn't win the national songcontest they did have a great experience.
Fabrizio and the other All Of Us members recorded a few songs and had given lots of performances across the Netherlands. In the begin of January 2000 they released a single which went in the top 40 charts.
Fabrizio and Paul got to know each other in 2001 when Paul replaces two All Of Us members. They kept on performing in The Netherlands and abroad until the band split up in 2002. However, Fabrizio continued to play the guitar and performed with his father again. To keep a living Fabrizio opened a café and next to serving drinks he amused visitors with his music. When Ed van Otterdijk asked Fabrizio to start a two-piece band with Paul to enter the national songcontest 2004, Fabrizio was very enthusiastic and... Re-union was born.
PAUL DE CORTE
Paul de Corte was born on 28 February 1979 and always loved to sing. His love for music started in the local youth choir.
Paul's voice was noticed in the choir and was regularly asked to sing solo parts. By his large commitment in the choir Paul was soon named as conductor and started to learn to conduct the choir as well. After some years Paul joined a pop choir. They performed with a large orchestra and even in the theater... but Paul wanted to explore.
Paul started taking singing lessons and from that time he entered many talent scoutings across The Netherlands. Paul regularly won those scoutings. Paul's family and friends encouraged Paul to enter The Soundmixshow. He entered The Soundmixshow twice and both times he managed the finals.
In the meantime Paul started his own pop choir called You Name It and was a member of the band Expose Yourself. Paul got problems with his voice and wasn't able to sing for almost a year. Fortunately his voice recovered and it was possible to continue his dream: having a singingcareer.
Paul's favourite artists were Michael Jackson, N-Sync, Marco Borsato and Richard Marx. When Paul was asked to enter All Of Us to replace two members he didn't have to hesitate. With the band Paul experienced to perform in front of hundreds of screaming fans. After the split up of All Of Us Paul continued singing in several bands and was asked to be a judge in talent scouts.
In the meanwhile Paul learned to play the piano. In 2002 Paul was asked as backingvocal for the band The Beanuts during the semifinal of the national songcontest 2003. Paul enjoyed his new experience.
Up to now Paul is busy creating his own sound and has recorded lots of songs with Ed van Otterdijk. When Ed van Otterdijk asked Paul to enter the national songcontest 2004 once again but now as a leadsinger, he didn't say no. Together with former colleague, Fabrizio, they became Re-union.
