REY ADEL'S POETRY
A LONELY POEM TO A LOVELY DIVA

v
I wrote love notes on a napkin
Have you known what they mean?
Was I poetic? You, a prude?
Are you a cynic? I, so rude?

vi
The roses I gave, you held with glee
The prize for your lovely grin.
I once asked you to marry me
You smiled but then asked, "When?"

vii
The nearness of you makes me wonder
Of a restless heart beating faster.
Wished those moments to last longer
A minute without you seems forever.

viii
I close my eyes, I see you there
I'm mesmerized; was I high with fever?
Am I a martinet; you a siren?
      Are you a dove; I, a raven?
