The Goddess 2000 Project is a grassroots worldwide effort to raise awareness about the Goddess through art. Individuals and groups all over the world have created works of art - big and small - of Goddesses images. The project collectively celebrated the Millenium by welcoming in the new century and dedicating it to the Goddess. The Winter Solstice was chosen as the celebration time. Locally some friends and I hosted a Winter Solstice G2K Celebration and Art Exhibit. It was held at a local dance hall and approximately 150 people attended. We charged a small sliding scale fee at the door to cover the cost of dance hall and ALL profits went our local Tree Foundation. We raised about $300 for this donation! The celebration included an art exhibit, an alter for each direction, children's art table, live preformances of belly dancing, sword dance, poetry, and songs. We held a group ritual for the Goddess including a spiral dance. The whole evening was magickal and special.
